A Will is the best way to protect your family, especially those who depend on you, and ensures that they are provided for after your death.  A Will is a formal legal document used to dispose of a person's property after death and discloses the administration of their estate.  Many people do not think of making a Will because they believe that if they die without a Will (intestate), their family will get all their belongings (assets).  But to ensure that your assets are distributed according to your wishes, a Will is a  must.

Estate planning is a financial planning tool that helps you, as a client, acquire and accumulate assets you need during your life and your beneficiaries need after your death.  Estate administration deals with the distribution of the person's assets after death.  Proper estate planning ensures that your wishes are carried out with respect to your personal and real property after death and minimizes the tax consequences.

We also offer our clients a Living Will and Health Care Directive.  These documents identify a person's wishes with respect to life support and who should make health care decisions if they are no longer able to make such decisions for themselves.

The last relevant document we offer our clients is a Power of Attorney in which one person authorizes another person to act on their behalf regarding legal and financial matters such as real property and bank accounts.  Generally, a Power of Attorney goes into effect when executed.  A Durable Power of Attorney goes into effect upon execution of the document and remains in effect despite the future incapacity of the person giving the Power of Attorney.

We provide our clients with an Estate Planning Questionnaire, which can be used to list all family members and friends they wish to include in their Will, as well as all their assets and how they are to be distributed after their death.  They can also name anyone they choose to act as the Executor (male) or Executrix (female) to their Will to ensure that the provisions of the Will are carried out according to their wishes.
